Song's Problem
So I was listening to steely dan at music engineer's house other day...... and 1. i dont like steely dan he was just showing me some dvd of the making of which i could appreciate...... 2 i realized something- a song's number 1 problem for the most part.......... I think.... is there are too many instrumentations. The simpler the better.
Not that i dont love a ton of quirky instuments/tation dont get me wrong...... but steely dan had a song where there were just drums for a while...... n that actually sounded great. the moment they layered on the guitar and bass it kinda ruined it........ something in the simplicity of just drums and voice was really great for them/ for that specific song.
I've read Bjork say something similar....... the simpler the better and I do agree I must say. I'm seeing that firsthhand now.
