Song's Problem

So I was listening to steely dan at music engineer's house other day...... and 1. i dont like steely dan he was just showing me some dvd of the making of which i could appreciate...... 2 i realized something- a song's number 1 problem for the most part.......... I think.... is there are too many instrumentations. The simpler the better.

Not that i dont love a ton of quirky instuments/tation dont get me wrong...... but steely dan had a song where there were just drums for a while...... n that actually sounded great. the moment they layered on the guitar and bass it kinda ruined it........ something in the simplicity of just drums and voice was really great for them/ for that specific song.

I've read Bjork say something similar....... the simpler the better and I do agree I must say. I'm seeing that firsthhand now.

On: Man on the Moon

Its really crazy...................... a lot of the movie characters ive most been able to identify with in my lifetime....... are all the male characters. Its really bizarre- Bill Murray in What about Bob (I am an increasing germophobe with age)- Nicholas Cage in Adaptation for many reasons..... Woody Allen in Husbands and Wives. Its really bizarre I dont know why........ and not for sexuality reasons just...... many of their quirks and idiosyncrasies is what I can really relate to.

Well....... just saw Man on the Moon finally and this is no exception. I dont know if its Andy Kaufman himself- or Jim Carey's brilliant portrayal....... but it's eery just how much I can identify with this many on so many levels. He too oddly enough was a germophobe- something I'm finding increasingly common in comedy. Take Howie Mandel for example........ anyhow, what a brilliant film/ man/ biopic. I am so flabbergasted I am only just now seeing this- but have been inspired in more than one way and am feeling so creatively dense and ready to burst at the seams. My mind is racing and creative juices flow.... like flood. I am so happy to have finally seen this brilliant masterpiece and I intend to do a lot more research on this genius, creative and insane mind. I feel akin to all these people in some respect, I dont know why or what it is. But I know there is a reason, thank you Andy Kaufman for your zany kooky extremist absurdist humor. Without people like you comedy, and thus society- would not be moving forward. Thank you for your inventiveness. You are an innovator in more than one way. Thank you to Andy Kaufman !!!!!!!! (and Jim Carey)- who was brilliant.
