PJ harvey, n Tom Vek have also been 'instrumental' --in this 'inspiration'. chanting, sort of gibberish band.



........................... also, 'improv-based'. i want the songs to just 'happen'/ come 'out'. a jam band of sorts...................

ive been watching ellie goulding videos...(i can't wait to see her live omg)..so like, all i wanted for 2010 was a new tom vek album..i'm not gonna bank on that..so..ellie will have to do;) she is though. she really is like his female counterpart..they should totally hook up! ahh, a tom/ellie duet!???? dreamy..

oh and music i am LEAST looking forward to..well, if bjork keeps churning out the crap she has been then her..tori amos..wth happened to these people???? its so sad. these were me and my friends favorite people growing up, our heroes basically..bjork especially. but i'm beginning to believe my friend's theory: retire after 40..there's exceptions but more and more i'm seeing truth to that. PJ HARVEY! i hope she comes back too..not that john parish stuff either..OH, and where's TOM VEK!!!!!!!!???????? its the eternal question......'10 better be his year. '10 and BEYOND! it's amazing how much frustration/depression that's brought me..i think i need medication

this is the first live vid. i'm seeing of her! i really love it about the 1:00 mark and after..but it mainly serves as a reminder that i MUST learn the drums...i love how her music is SO percussion-based..she sorta reminds me of tom vek in that way, sorta like a female tom vek..

oh gawd how could i almost forget..THE BLOOD BROTHERS. they go on the 'missing' list at the um, TOP. well, under tom vek. i miss them so much, listening to mars volta kinda reminded me..i saw them once, i think in 07 at Black Cat, amazing show.

i am in missing mode..in fact, i have been for quite awhile. like, yeah there's newer stuff by him (david garza) but what about now what is he doing now?? where'd he go? where'd tom vek go? where'd bic runga go? here is a list of those artists i am missing and wondering about most, now that i think about it..

ok now i realize some of them are still doin their thing, but i listened to bic's newer stuff ('Birds') and it's just not doin it for me. hmmmm tom vek is the main one right now. theres zilch. i check his forums etc. religiously. ive basically scoured the internet and still come up w/the same thing (he cont. to work on the follow-up). my patience grows thin....but i think of him often.

..so i suppose this list is a wish, of artists i hope to see come back (strong) or just come back at all..i'm sure there are more..will add as i think of them.

David Byrne/Devotchka

saw the show last nite, well saturday nite..all i have to say is Byrne's set was too long and Devotchka's wasn't long enough. oh and i hear resemblances of Byrne in Tom Vek, his spoken/chanty style singing, that i just noticed last nite. but overall, a really fun show! (in really good company) and the ppl dancing around us were hysterical.

this was their wolftrap show, i love goin to that venue.

Eminence Front!

finally! i've found it. the Who song ive been searching for, oh months now...'Eminence Front'. i kept hearing it on the radio and couldnt find the title until today. i think it's pretty much the only Who song i like but i love it. like it's a wonder how you can love one song so much from a band..and not much else. i mean, maybe there are others but i have yet to come across them. but what i realized about that song is..just pretty ahead of its time. like i hear influences directly from 'Eminence' in one of my favorite artists, Tom Vek. who...well i'll go off on another tangent here but let's just say he's sort of M.I.A., and i'm sick just thinking about it. he's a genius..just one of those whose next album i'm most anticipating. 'We Have Sound' (his only album) is one of my favorites ever. i cant say enough about him so i'll stop there.

In a perfect world, I would run a label. and who knows maybe one day i will, but for now this will have to do.
